Who Qualifies

The city's one-time bulky item pickup is for Fresno residents who pay for City of Fresno solid waste collection, with an account in good standing. You get one free pickup per account each year. Extra pickups within the same year are billed as a Special Haul.

How It Works

  1. Call 311 (or (559) 621-2489) or use FresGO to request the pickup.
  2. Solid Waste calls within seven business days to confirm your date.
  3. Put the item out no more than 36 hours before the scheduled date, and by 6 AM on pickup day.
  4. Place it 1 to 1.5 feet from the curb in front of your home, where your carts are serviced. Homes with alley service are excluded.
  5. Keep it clear of mailboxes, hydrants, water meters, and parked cars, or the crew may skip it.

What the City Takes and Refuses

Accepted: bookcases, box springs, carpet, chairs, couches, desks, dressers, entertainment centers, filing cabinets, headboards, mattresses, nightstands, recliners, stoves and ovens, shelving, tables, and drained water heaters.

Not accepted: refrigerators and freezers, electronic waste, tires, batteries, auto parts, dirt, household hazardous waste, medical waste, household garbage, and live ammunition, among others.

Only the item you requested is collected. Any other pile at the curb is treated as illegal dumping and can be cited.

Other City of Fresno Options

  • Special Hauls: a paid pickup for bulky items or green waste, booked through Solid Waste Customer Service at (559) 621-6888. Fees are set in the city's Master Fee Schedule.
  • Free Dump Events: held at CARTS, 3457 S. Cedar Ave. The Fall 2026 schedule lists September 12-13, October 17-18, and November 14-15, from 7 AM to 2:30 PM. City trash customers can bring one full-size pickup truck load (about 8' x 4' x 4') with a utility bill or Proof of Eligibility Form plus a state ID.

Clovis Community Clean-Up

Clovis runs its own program. Single-family homes with City of Clovis trash service get a free bulk curbside pickup twice a year: a Spring cycle (January through June) and a Fall cycle (July through December). Your pickup date comes on a flier mailed at the start of each cycle and is also on the city's online Community Clean-Up map. Debris can go out no more than two weeks early and must be at the curb by 6 AM on your day.
